Whether you're gathered around a crackling fire with loved ones, enjoying a quiet evening beneath a sky full of stars, or simply soaking in the peaceful surroundings, we invite you to experience the comfort and magic that make our inn feel like home.
Nestled in the heart of beautiful Paonia, Colorado, Mountainview Inn is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, vibrant live music, award-winning wineries, and some of the kindest, most welcoming people you'll ever meet. Paonia is a place that celebrates community, creativity, and the beauty of the Western Slope, and we're proud to be part of it.
Our vision extends beyond offering a place to stay. Whether we're welcoming overnight guests, hosting seasonal community dinners, or celebrating life's special moments through private events, our goal is to bring people together. Our Story
Every great place has a story, and ours begins with a leap of faith.
In 2023, Joel Miller fell in love with the beautiful mountain town of Paonia, Colorado. Drawn by its breathtaking scenery, welcoming community, and slower pace of life, he decided to make Paonia his home. Soon after, he stumbled upon an old vacant church. Though it had been empty for years, Joel saw something others didn't—a place filled with possibility. He purchased the historic building as a side project, hoping to preserve a piece of the town's history while creating something meaningful.
Not long after, Joel reconnected with his childhood friend, Chef Dan. It didn't take long for the two to realize they shared the same vision: to transform the old church into a bed and breakfast where people could slow down, reconnect with one another, and enjoy unforgettable food, drinks, and hospitality.
In the summer of 2025, Dan and his wife, Ana, left the fast-paced city life of Minneapolis behind and moved to the small town of Paonia to help bring that vision to life. Even before the inn opened its doors, they began planting culinary roots in the community, sharing their passion for exceptional food while eagerly working toward the day they could welcome guests to Mountainview Inn.
Joel's love of travel has always drawn him to Switzerland, a country whose mountain culture, craftsmanship, and hospitality have long inspired him. During one of those visits in 2023, he met the two people who would forever change his life—his wife, Nathalie, and her daughter, Enya. Together, they became an integral part of the dream, helping shape the heart and character of what Mountainview Inn would become.
With the dedication of Joel, Nathalie, Enya, Dan, Ana, and countless friends, family members, skilled craftsmen, and community supporters from Paonia and around the world, the once-abandoned church was lovingly restored into the beautiful inn you see today.
Our vision was to create more than just a place to stay. We wanted to build a destination that captures the warmth of a cozy mountain lodge, infused with subtle Swiss influences, thoughtful design, and exceptional culinary experiences. Every room, every meal, and every gathering is meant to inspire connection, comfort, and a sense of belonging.
As we continue to grow, our commitment remains the same: to make Mountainview Inn a place where guests create lasting memories, friendships are formed around the table, and our community has another place to gather, celebrate, and feel at home.
